Grab your Bible and a cup of coffee. Here are some ideas to help you dig in.

How to study your Bible

1. Try the SOAP method

Write down a verse (Scripture), what stands out (Observation), how it applies to your life (Application), and a short Prayer. About 15 minutes, and a great place to start.

2. Read it slowly

Choose one short passage, like a psalm, and read it three times. Notice something new each time, then pray it back to God.

3. Ask good questions

Who is speaking? Who is being spoken to? What does this show me about God? What is it asking of me?

4. Study one book

Pick a short book like James, Philippians, or Ruth and read a little each day until you finish it.

5. Follow one topic

Choose something like peace, trust, or forgiveness and trace it through verses across the Bible.

6. Study one word

Pick a word like grace or hope and look at how it’s used in different passages. Or use a guided reading plan when you feel stuck.
