Hi friends,
We are going to be journeying through the Gospel of Mark!
Although Mark was not one of the twelve disciples, early Christian tradition tells us that he was a close companion and interpreter of Peter during his ministry. Much of what Mark recorded about Jesus’ life and ministry is believed to come from Peter’s eyewitness accounts. What a blessing to glean from their time together!
The Gospel of Mark is the shortest of the four Gospels. Mark quickly takes us through the events of Jesus’ life, but you will not be disappointed! This Gospel is full of fruit and insight, and you will be left wanting more.
Many scholars believe Mark wrote primarily for Gentile believers, most likely those living in Rome. What I love most about the Gospel of Mark is that it not only gives us Jesus’ words but also shows us the heart of Jesus. Mark highlights Jesus’ heart to heal, deliver, forgive, and ultimately give His life for ours.
As we go through the verses in Mark, imagine Mark sitting with you and retelling the life of Jesus.
I would love for you to join me each week as we open our Bibles and journey through the Gospel of Mark, one passage at a time, taking time to meditate on His beautiful words. My prayer is that we will grow in the knowledge and understanding of Jesus and His undeniable love and grace toward us.
As we begin, ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and revelation as we journey through His Word together!
So grab your Bible, and let’s spend some time learning through the Gospel of Mark.
Mark starts with “The beginning”! (Mark 1:1)
